About Diesel Power Generator!

For us, there are three main reasons why we believe that a diesel power generator is the best type to buy.

1. Dependability - The diesel power generator will outlast a comparable gasoline unit ten-to-one. 2. Continuous use - It will happily work away twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. 3. Quality of power - Commercial grade power to run our computers and electronic appliances.

Many people rush into buying a power generator without giving a lot of thought to the different kinds available and to the intended use. The small gas units which can be bought relatively cheaply at the discount and hardware stores are totally not suited to any serious, hard work, and particularly any continuous running. We have heard many stories of customers being talked into these units and they either disintegrate at the first sign of hard work, or they just don't perform. You can't rely on them, as you can a diesel power generator. You are forever running back to the repair shop - a point to remember, the diesel power generator has no spark plugs and no carburettor.

If you are wanting to use your generator for standby use in a black-out situation, you could be looking at running your genset for anything up to 150 hours continuously. The average diesel power generator makes it to around 20,000 hours before it needs any service. During this time you do need to attend to regular maintenance which is extremely important, but as you can see it is going to take many years before you are going to be due for any major attention. Diesels are simply built to last. Ask any farmer who has been running diesel generators on his property. Gasoline generators are lucky to see 1,000 in before they have either died, or are in need of a complete overhaul. Many of these don't live past two hundred hours because they are only designed for intermittent use or short term emergency power.

The other really important feature of the diesel power generator is its quality of electrical output. This is essential if you are going to run your computers, or appliances that contain their own small computer, or any other electronic equipment for that matter. Electrical power is just like so many other things in life - excellent or poor quality. A great number of appliances that we run from generators doesn't need a good quality power source, such as our lights, but our fancy state-of-the-art equipment does. Hook your computer up to a poor power source and you are going to either ruin your computer or severely damage it. Many people just don't realise that all power is not equal.

For us, there is not substitute for a diesel power generator. Most new models are built on what is called "clean" technology, and their emissions are far less toxic than gasoline - carbon monoxide poison kills quickly, and it is invisible and odorless. Diesel generators actually burn less than half the fuel that it would take for a gas generator to do the same job. Oh, and if you were wondering about noise, this is also something that has been addressed in recent technology. They are much quieter with a lot of attention being paid to soundproofing their housing as well as them having quieter operation.
