This is as easy as undoing a plug and allowing the oil to drain out, and then replenishing it. They also require their fuel, air and oil filters to be changed on a regular basis. But that's it! No carburettor, no spark plugs, no distributor or magneto to burn out, and no constant trips to the dealer on warranty and repair issues. Yes, diesel generator costs a whole lot more, but at the end of the day you get engines that near enough run forever. Some people will argue that the diesel fuel produces more exhaust so it must be much worse for the environment. Wrong! A well-tuned diesel generator set will only produce visible fumes very briefly when under a severe load change.
